- Contact data

- Business data
- Your business name, whether it is a limited company or a sole trader, its turnover, and how much funding you need, what it's for and when.

- Whether you have confirmed your mobile number with a one-time code.
- Technical data
- Your IP address, the country it is in, your browser and device type, and the page you came from.
- Marketing and attribution data
- The advert or campaign that brought you to us, such as UTM tags and Google and Meta click identifiers, stored in cookies (see Cookies).
- Communications data
- Records of emails, calls and messages between you and us.
We do not ask for special category data, such as health information. If you give us personal data about someone else, such as a fellow director, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.
Lawful bases for processing
Data protection law requires a lawful basis for each way we use your personal data. We rely on one or more of the following.
Performance of a contract
Where we need your data to provide the service you asked for, such as finding a funding partner for your business.
Legal obligation
Where we must process your data to meet a legal or regulatory requirement.
Legitimate interests
Where processing is necessary for our business interests, such as preventing fraud or measuring our marketing, and does not override your rights.
Consent
Where you have given clear consent, such as to share your details with a partner or to receive marketing. You can withdraw it at any time.
How we use your personal data
We use your personal data:
- To check what funding your business may be eligible for
- To match you with the funding partner best suited to your needs
- To pass your application to that partner so they can contact you
- To verify your identity and your mobile number
- To prevent fraud and misuse of our service
- To respond to your questions and complaints
- To measure and improve our website and advertising
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations
- To send you marketing, where you have agreed to it
Who we share your data with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only where needed, with:
- Funding partners: The lender or broker we match you with, which may search its own panel of lenders.
- Credit reference and fraud prevention agencies: Used by our partners to check your identity, creditworthiness and to prevent fraud.
- Service providers: Companies that host our website and database, send text messages, and provide analytics and advertising.
- Regulators and authorities: Where the law requires us to.
If a partner runs a credit search, it may leave a record on your credit file. Our own eligibility check does not affect your credit score.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process your data outside the UK. When they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the ICO's international data transfer agreement.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it, including for:
- Providing our service to you
- Meeting legal, tax and regulatory requirements
- Handling disputes and complaints
- Keeping audit and compliance records
When we no longer need your data, we securely delete or anonymise it.
Marketing
We will only send you marketing about our services where the law allows it or you have agreed to it. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.
Automated decision-making
We use automated rules to decide which funding partner to introduce you to, based on your turnover, how long your business has been trading and which partners are available. This decides who can help you; it is not a lending decision, which is always made by the lender.
You have the right to ask for a person to review an automated decision, to give your point of view, and to challenge it. To do so, contact us.
Your data protection rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your data
- Restrict or object to how we use your data
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month and will not usually charge a fee.
Sharing your application with partners
When you select “See my matches”, you agree that we may share the details you gave us, and the information we looked up about your business, with the funding partner we match you with. That partner may contact you about your application and may run identity, fraud prevention and credit checks.
Funding Finder is an introducer, not a lender, and does not give financial advice. Any agreement you enter into will be between you and the partner.
Cookies
When you arrive from an advert, we store the campaign details and click identifiers in first-party cookies for 90 days, so we know which adverts work. If you use Meta products, Meta's _fbp cookie may also be read. Your answers to our eligibility questions are kept in your browser's session storage until you see your results, and are cleared when you close the tab.
Commission disclosure
Our service is free for businesses. We are paid a commission by the partners we introduce you to, which may be a fixed fee or a percentage of the amount you borrow. This does not change what you pay. If you would like to know the nature and amount of any commission, ask us before you enter into an agreement.
Our partners
Our funding partners include iwoca and Funding Options by Tide. When we introduce you to one, they become a data controller for your personal data and will handle it in line with their own privacy notice, which you can find on their website.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
